Ian Stickland


Ian provides consultancy in all aspects of theatre design and acoustics. He leads the Charcoalblue digital design strand which combines technology and theatricality beyond traditional performance spaces.


He holds a degree in Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) from the Institute of Sound Recording, University of Surrey and a diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control from the Institute of Acoustics. Ian has worked in a wide variety of venues including Battersea Arts Centre, Abbey Road Studios, numerous festivals and tours and is currently associate director of Bad Physics. His expertise includes all areas of AV systems, sound reinforcement and recording, cinema, theatrical lighting and technical management. He has worked with artists including Punchdrunk, Kneehigh Theatre Co, Diana Ross, London Symphony Orchestra and Stephen Frears, and has performed professionally as a musician.
