Paul provides project management and consultancy on all aspects of theatre design, with special emphasis on stagelighting systems and project delivery.

Paul has a strong background in stagelighting and technical theatre having spent more than twelve years as a Chief Electrician and resident Lighting Designer, both at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford and at The Old Vic, London.
As a freelance lighting designer, his West End credits include ‘Groucho’ and ‘Wife Begins at 40’. In addition, Paul worked as a freelance production electrician or assistant LD on over 50 West End shows, including ‘Billy Elliot’ in London, as well as many UK national theatre tours, conferences, car shows and exhibitions.
As Senior Lighting Engineer at Glantre Engineering, Paul worked on the design and installation of stagelighting systems in new-build cruise ships for P&O and Disney as well as Arts Centres and Theatres both in the UK and around the world. For Patrick Woodroffe Lighting Design, Paul worked on the design of feature lighting schemes at Wynn Resorts hotels in Las Vegas and Macau, as well as projects for the V&A museum gardens and the Cutty Sark in London.
Paul was previously a consultant at Carr & Angier and joined Charcoalblue in 2010. He has a vast amount of experience in designing for a wide range of performance buildings, including concert halls, opera houses, theatres, performing arts centres, school and university buildings, outdoor venues, museums, hospitality, and conference centres.
His consultancy work with Charcoalblue includes Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp, Belgium and the new Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities at Oxford University.
