Ryan Seelig has worked as a lighting designer, production designer, production manager, technical director, and theater artist in New York City for the past decade.
For over 5 years, he designed and supervised lighting for The Wooster Group, where he toured his designs to over 30 venues across the world including the Sydney Opera House, The Centre Pompidou in Paris, The Spiral Theater in Tokyo, St. Anne’s Warehouse in NYC, and The Barbican Centre in London; adapting his design at each venue to best suit the show and the audience.
Ryan has also consistently worked with Young Jean Lee’s Theater Company, Elevator Repair Service, Abrons Arts Center, and frequently collaborates with auteurs including Michelle Ellsworth, Becca Blackwell, and Morgan Gould. His focus has always been working collaboratively with artists and producers, finding the best way to tell story, convey mood, and create atmosphere within the constraints of various event spaces and budgets.
He is at his best when he is problem solving, collaborating and thinking of innovative, efficient ways to make things work no matter the limitations.
