Floor van de Velde

Floor has a background in education, design, sound, and installation art. She has worked in the academic sector, with her most recent role being in the design faculty at UC Berkeley's Master of Design program where she developed and taught courses focused on design innovation, exhibition design, studio practice, and visual art. Before moving to the Bay Area, she mentored young designers and has taught at Massachusetts College of Art, Tufts University, and MIT.

Prior to working in academia, she founded a full-service digital design studio in New York, working on projects with Showtime, HBO, MIT Press, Stanford, and the United Nations.

She received her Master of Science at the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT where she focused on artistic research at the intersection of art and technology. Floor takes a hybrid approach to design, combining the aesthetic and creative drive of an artist and the technical abilities, understanding, and curiosity of a designer. When given the chance, she loves to talk about contemporary art, sound, and solving hard problems with creative people.
