Prior to working at Charcoalblue, Fran spent many years in hospitality. Her most recent post was with Padella Ltd working as a Project Manager opening new restaurant sites. She was most interested in exploring how design can create a of the sense of theatre and performance within the restaurant. This led her to apply for a role with Charcoalblue, and that is how her story began.
What's the greatest lesson you've learnt as a Theatre Consultant?
There is little that cannot be realised: imagination, inspiration and determination are key. All the team members of Charcoalblue have these skills and when asked how to realise a design idea, despite all possible challenges, they are enthused and excited to figure out how.
What first sparked your love of theatre or performing arts?
Joining an amateur dramatics company at the age of 11. I was cast as Mamillius in Shakespeare’s, The Winter’s Tale. We performed the play in the gardens of The Manor House in West Hoathly. The audience moved around the grounds for each act of the play guided by flame torches as dusk set in. It was one of the most magical experiences of my childhood.
