The Thaden Performing Arts Center is a core component of the masterplan for Thaden School’s new campus and educational ambitions. The center is the embodiment of Thaden’s mission to foster a world in which the importance of balance and effective communication is key. The new performance building provides an environment in which everyone can develop self-expression and fluency in their own communication through music, drama, and dance.
A 300-seat multi-form concert theatre inhabits the southern half of the building along with adjacent front and back of house spaces. Arrayed on the north half of the building are the classrooms that will provide the bulk of daily educational space. The large Music Room can accommodate ensembles of up to 60 members while the Drama Room is well suited to serve drama classes, rehearsals or scenework presentations. A bank of dressing rooms that double as music practice rooms takes up the north east corner of the footprint. On the street side of the building a public facing classroom has been designed with the flexibility to double as a foyer during performances.
Charcoalblue provided full theatre and acoustics consultancy services throughout the building. Acoustics and technical systems were designed to provide teaching and production experiences in a professional setting through safe interactions.
