John Lyon's Theatre, City Lit

Citi Lit, a leading adult education centre, has reconfigured its entrance and upgraded its studio theatre at its flagship centre in London’s Covent Garden. We provided turnkey design, project management and theatre and acoustic consultancy services.

We commission and worked with architects Fabric Space, to re-model the existing building entrance, creating a new theatre reception and exhibition space from a previously under-utilised office. The resulting space is exciting yet compact, cleverly defining the theatre entrance and incorporating a multi-function reception counter, exhibition zone and foyer.

Within the existing studio theatre, we provided technical consultancy and acoustic design services, which included specification of a new motorised retractable seating unit, a lighting and sound infrastructure upgrade and bespoke acoustic treatments detailed to echo new foyer treatments.

Working to a tight programme aligned to a 7-week summer ‘dark’ period, we project managed the tender and delivery phases, coordinating the team of contractors to ensure delivery within the agreed budget and programme.
