Charcoalblue's Melbourne-based theatre consulting team recently showcased their expertise at the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres (VAPAC) Venue Managers' final meeting for 2023. Leaders gathered for significant discussions at the impressive new Gippsland Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon. Conversations emphasised the importance of facilities planning and management in the performing arts sector. Our presentation “Creating a Gathering Place Where Stories Are Shared” followed on from our work at Brisbane's ITEAC event and offered a deeper dive into the intricacies of designing flexible, community-centric art centres that cater to diverse audiences, illustrating our commitment to enhancing the Australian performing arts landscape.
VAPAC represents a broad spectrum of over 85 performing arts venues and theatre professionals across Victoria and Tasmania. This network encompasses a wide variety of venues, from small, independent theatre companies and 100-seat regional venues to substantial, metropolitan-based theatres and recital halls. These venues play a crucial role in serving diverse audiences, ranging from small rural communities to large regional and metropolitan cities, underlining the vital role of theatre consulting in ensuring their success and sustainability.
