The Geelong Arts Centre Phase 3 redevelopment realises an exceptional and contemporary arts campus that transforms the arts and cultural landscape for Geelong, the region and Victoria. The vision is bold and places artists, the community and creatives at its core, redefining the roles of arts centres as change-makers. The centre aspires to run a campus model multi-lingual and multi-cultural building accessible and welcoming to everyone. The redevelopment complements Phase 2, ‘Making Spaces’, where new work is nurtured and explored.
Funded by the Victorian State Government, Phase 3 provides new performance spaces, each with its unique functional brief and character, to complement the existing. Playhouse proscenium theatre, ‘Making Spaces’ and rehearsal facilities. These include a 550-seat flexible theatre for drama, dance and music and a 300-seat warehouse format flexible space suitable for various configurations and events. There are also external event spaces, linking public foyers with catering and performance capability, and full back-of-house and administration facilities.
We are working with ARM Architecture to provide full theatre planning and auditorium design services alongside a full suite of technical design for all performance spaces.
