I’m a venue designer. Have always been fascinated by the three-dimensional mathematical geometry, rhythm, symmetry/asymmetry of rooms and how this impacts the communication and intimacy of the space. Juggling this complex puzzle is usually great fun and sometimes seems intractable. You change one parameter and everything changes. The details really do matter from the very first principles to a venue being completed.

What You Hope People Feel in a Space You’ve Worked On

One of my earliest memories is a family trip to a small amphitheatre in Rhodes (Greece). Even now, I can remember how much I was in awe of the atmosphere. ‘Awe’ in an adult within a new or renovated space is rather a large ask; but I hope people would at least experience a sense of room, to enjoy the buzz of anticipation and to feel something intangible in the air.
