Fordham High School Theatre
New York, NY
Since 2014, Charcoalblue has been proud to partner with Bette Midler’s Jeckyl Foundation on Stages for Success, the Foundation’s initiative to deliver desperately needed improvements to antiquated public school auditoriums in New York City.
Fordham High School for the Arts in the Bronx is one of New York City’s preeminent public performing arts high schools, but the school’s theatre was in a grave state of disrepair, depriving the students of a functional laboratory in which to put their studies into practice.
Working with partners Rockwell Group, Akustics and Yorke Construction, Charcoalblue provided a brand new Stagelighting system with a robust repertory plot of LED lighting fixtures, as well as a package of staging platforms to provide a flexible stage extension which provides a deeper apron and connects the performers more directly to the large auditorium. A new stage drapery package rounded out the improvements, providing more defined wings and better masking of the existing counterweight rigging
