16/04/20

Charcoalblue was thrilled to be invited to partner with George to the Rescue on a fast-paced renovation of Bloomingdale School of Music's David Greer Recital Hall in late 2019.

Charcoalblue donated consultancy services for theatrical venue design, stage lighting, audiovisual and acosutics to update and improve thehall to better serve student performers, audiences and rental groups into the 21st century. This George to the Rescue episode documenting the venue's transformation aired in the US on Saturday 11th April, and is widely available on Youtube.

From start to finish, the rapid design and refurbishment came together in under two months. Our team consulted on room design concepts alongside Rogers Partners Architects, creating a better performance space with capacity for professional grade stage lighting and AV equipment and room acoustic interventions introducing acoustic variability and improving the sound quality with various room finishes. During construction, Charcoalblue consultants collaborated with Silverlining Inc, the general contractor and project leader, to ensure the renovation process ran smoothly.

Thanks to other generous material donations from industry colleagues at ETC, IWeiss, Unika Vaev and others, Bloomingdale School of Music has the beautiful and functional venue that it deserves to support its mission to provide open access to music education. We are honoured to have been part of this fantastic team and are incredibly proud of the results.
