As an Associate Consultant on the Experience Design and Strategy (XDS) team, I approach every challenge as a puzzle to be solved with creativity and precision. I believe in a philosophy of professional excellence that does not sacrifice human sincerity; I value honesty and clear communication above all else in my collaborations. My start in live events was rooted in the belief that the most impactful stories are told through collective effort. I am at my best when I can hear a big idea and then find the right ways to back it up. What matters most to me is being part of a team that builds something much bigger and better than any individual could create alone.
What Excites You Most About Your Work
What excites me most about our work is the opportunity to design spaces that tell a story. Coming from a background in live events, I know the importance of the physical environment and how it dictates the emotional arc of an experience. This narrative can present as an immersive theatrical experience for a product launch or a workplace that offers its users a sense of ease and calm. My goal is to design environments that intuitively support and enhance their intended use, allowing the space itself to serve the story.
What Brought You to Charcoalblue
My decision to join Charcoalblue was driven by a few key factors. Professionally, I had spent over a decade developing new work across theater, dance, and film, traveling the world with inspiring artists whose stories I wanted to help tell. Personally, I was entering a new phase of life and wanted to be more grounded in New York to start a family. I was looking for a way to apply the skills and perspective I had gained on the road in a fresh direction. An architect friend pointed me toward Charcoalblue after he had collaborated with them on the design of St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. He described a team of creative thinkers from arts and production backgrounds who he felt would value my experience and my specific point of view. After a few “fact-finding” chats, I realized these were exactly the kind of people I wanted to work with, and the rest is history.
What We Won’t Learn from Your CV
My ultimate source of joy is spending time with my family. We are a family of laughers; between my wife, our 20-month-old daughter, and our 4-year-old son, it is rare that a day goes by without someone laughing to the point of tears. We love each other fiercely, and that sense of humor and connection is the foundation for everything I do.
Cultural Value You Most Identify With
I identify most with Collaboration. My start in live events was really about the belief that the best stories are told together. I love the puzzle of working with a team to solve a problem or get a project over the finish line. It isn’t just a work style for me; it is the reason I do this. I am at my best when I can hear a big idea and then react in support of it. That is what collaboration is to me: being part of a group that builds something much bigger and better than I ever could on my own.
