As a Project Manager, Gary is responsible for coordination and delivery of work packages from concept through to delivery, executing to both cost and schedule.

As a Senior Project Manager at Charcoalblue, I lead programmes where technical, operational and experiential collide. My strength is creating clarity in environments full of competing priorities, incomplete information and high expectations. I translate between engineers, vendors, creatives and executives – ensuring decisions are grounded in evidence, risks are surfaced early and delivery stays aligned with the mission. I’m hands-on enough to understand the technical realities whilst steering the programme, shape strategy and hold the line on quality.I don’t micromanage the engineering, but I understand it well enough to challenge assumptions, spot risks early and make informed decisions. I bring order to ambiguity through clear planning and practical governance and build trust by being transparent, evidence-based and consistent.Ensuring that technical decisions support the creative or operational intent is what matters most to me. The end user experience is front and centre.

What Excites You Most About Your Work

I like to make complexity behave. I light up when in the middle of a system with many moving parts – vendors, disciplines, constraints, creative intent – and I enjoy being the one who brings order, clarity and direction. It’s not so much the chaos that I enjoy, it’s getting a grip on it.I care deeply about systems that perform under pressure – not just on paper and get satisfaction in seeing something go live, knowing it’s robust and ready because the right decisions were made along the way.I enjoy the diplomacy, the translation and the negotiation. I like to be the person who can talk to the engineers, the creatives, the executives and the operators and have each group feel understood and guided without shying away from accountability and more so stepping into it.

My personal life mirrors my professional approach; 25 years of marriage, two kids, a dog and a strong belief in taking responsibility for the things that matter. I’m a hands-on problem solver – if something needs doing, I’ll buy the tool, learn the method and get it done properly.
