Carys Jones

Hi, I manage the day to day running of the Bristol studio, including health and safety, maintenance and utilities. I provide administrative support for the local team and I am the the first point of contact for visitors and guests. I’m happy to help with most requests – even if it they aren’t technically part of my remit. I love creative problem solving and it’s important to me that the studio is a welcoming space that runs smoothly and efficiently in order to allow everyone to do their work to highest standard.

What Brought You to Charcoalblue

After working extensively across the arts, from being a scenic artist and scenographer for theatre and film to working within the production management team for the BBC, I felt keen to commit long term to one company where I can watch projects come into fruition and invest time and care into the work I do. I have a passion for the arts that has remained a constant throughout the past decade and is reflected in the work created by Charcoalblue.

A Place That Shaped or Inspires You

Three Cliffs Bay in South Wales is my favourite place to go – especially if stressed. There’s a long walk down to the beach, through woodland, streams that need to be crossed and packs of roaming wild horses. It always feels magical!

Cultural Value That Inspires You to Go the Extra Mile

Creativity and innovation inspire me to go the extra mile. It’s an integral to Charcoalblue and my job (and the BST team generally!) is the platform that allows people to create whilst being supported with the day to day admin that Studios provides. I always try to apply creativity and innovation to my own role, be that problem solving, how I structure my work or through my communication and negotiating, both with my colleagues and external clients.
