As a Project Coordinator for Charcoalblue, I directly support project managers delivering some of our largest products, help maintain the wider portfolio, and work in the PMO to improve our internal processes and streamline project support. I approach every task, no matter the size, as if it were its own tiny project to manage: recording deadlines and people to inform of my progress, requesting information from other parties and submitting my own documents for review, and continuously assessing the state of the task and how to deliver the best result possible. Honesty, dependability, and delivering a superior product are the goals I hold highest in my work, as well as representing the company and its values in the best way I can.
What Brought You to Charcoalblue
During my tenure at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, I watched Charcoalblue build a new performance space and I in turn built multiple seasons of sets that played in that theatre. I heard and saw nothing but the best of CB’s employees, witnessed firsthand the excellent product they delivered, and realized that I needed to be a part of that organization. So when an opportunity opened up to join the team, I jumped at the chance.
What We Won’t Learn from Your CV
I’m an avid birder. My wife and I grew a passion for bird watching over the pandemic, when we put our first feeder outside our apartment window. You can catch us vacationing in the Gulf Coast, looking for Roseate Spoonbills.
A Book, Podcast, Building, or Creative Work That Inspires You
The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu begins one of my all-time favorite series of books. Besides being a thrilling tale of apocalyptic sci-fi, and a work of masterful storytelling, the books actually tell stories of global teamwork and unbiased pursuit of scientific knowledge.
Cultural Value That Inspires You to Go the Extra Mile
I think professional excellence is more than just performing a job well; its a mindset that distinguishes truly impactful work from the merely functional. In a field where so many provide high-quality services, true excellence stands out through a commitment to the finer details that others might overlook. While I don’t claim to hit that mark every single day, its the standard I strive for.In my day-to-day work, this shows up in the invisible tasks – taking the extra time to ensure a report is perfectly formatted for a client, or double-checking technical specifications to prevent future roadblocks. I want every teammate and stakeholder who interacts with my work to recognize the deliberate care and effort invested in it. Going the extra mile isn’t a one-time event, but a consistent habit of treating everything I produce as a reflection of my professional integrity.
