Andy Felix
Consultant
Andy has over 10 years of experience with in the AV industry focusing AV design, project management and technical delivery for high-profile installations.
At Charcoalblue I consult on all aspects of technical systems for theatre design, specialising in audio visual technology. I focus on loudspeaker system design both for large format venues and smaller venues and work with manufactures to create systems that produces an even coverage for listeners in every seat. As technology changes to rapidly and buildings tend to get built slower than this we have to keep the latest equipment and how signals are being transported around the venues therefore, having the right infrastructure in the right places makes a huge difference to the operators of the venues. Workshopping this out with them in the design stages is the first step on a successful project.
What Brought You to Charcoalblue
Live performance spaces are my passion, getting to design and work on these amazing spaces and help other understand the needs of the space drives my work. Charcoalblue being at the forefront of design and globally recognised by venues and architects means that the range of live performances spaces that I get the opportunity to work on is fantastic. Each project is different bringing it’s own unique set of variables to work with and trying to push boundaries of design.
What We Won’t Learn from Your CV
I’m a keen road cyclist, regularly taking trips out over the country side to push myself further, faster or just to see a nice view. I find it relaxes my brain and gives me some clear space to unwind and only having to think of peddling (and not falling off!).
Cultural Value You Most Identify With
With AV design we often have to think about problems in several ways, and over come it with creativity in finding a new piece of equipment that would solve a problem or working with the wider design team to ensure we can make our designs feasible within the building constraints. Often there is not always a right solution a compromise has to be made so we view a lot of our work as creativity and innovation via collaboration and communication.
