Stage Engineer and Technical Systems Designer Chris brings more than fifteen years of experience in entertainment and design to Charcoalblue. Chris began his career at the Singletary Center for the Arts and IATSE Local 346 while studying Fine Arts in Theatre Design & Production at the University of Kentucky. He went on to earn his MFA from Purdue University.
His previous projects include overseeing the rigging installation at George Washington Carver Center for Arts & Technology, rigging and lighting systems design for The Motley Fool, lighting the exterior & lobbies of the Winspear Opera House and the Cathedral of Christ the Light. His designs have been recognized by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and in the USITT Young Designer’s Forum. In addition to his design work Chris spent several years working as a project manager for Texas Scenic Company. He has been the resident lighting designer and production manager for Dissonance Dance Theatre in DC since 2010.
Chris is also an accomplished musician, and has recorded for several artists including Deborah Bond, Eastern Standard Time, and the 8-Ohms Band. Chris’s consultancy work includes Steppenwolf Theatre, The Gordy for Stages Repertory Theatre, and Roundhouse Bethesda.
