Yale to Move Forward with New Dramatic Arts Building

Yale University announced last week that it will move forward with plans for its new Dramatic Arts Building. The new facility will centralize operations of the Yale School of Drama, Yale Repertory Theatre, the undergraduate Theater and Performance Studies program and the Yale Dramatic Association.

Charcoalblue has been working with Yale since 2017 on early programming studies for the project and joined the KPMB Architects-led design team as both theatre and acoustics consultants in 2022. It has been an honor to play an integral role in such a pivotal project in the institution's storied theatrical history.

The new Dramatic Arts Building will enhance collaboration and modernize the learning environment by overcoming the current challenges of dispersed and outdated facilities. The project will give Yale Repertory Theatre a much-needed new home, featuring a studio theatre, extensive rehearsal spaces, production workshops, and versatile classrooms and laboratories to support the wide-ranging disciplines within the dramatic arts program. This endeavor underscores Charcoalblue's commitment to advancing theatrical education and practice at one of America's most prestigious universities.
