Senior Acoustic Consultant

The ideal candidate will have five to ten years of experience in acoustics consultancy for the performing arts, with a record of being the acoustic design leader on significant completed projects. Candidates should have a recognised degree or diploma in acoustics and knowledge of relevant technical guidance and standards, especially for Australia. Broad technical knowledge of room acoustics, noise control, building systems, and environmental noise is compulsory. Experience with CATT-Acoustic, INSUL, and SoundPLAN would be an advantage.

As for all our positions, we seek those who have theatre or performance experience, regularly attend live performances, and are knowledgeable about the performing arts industry. Charcoalblue seeks team members with a broad diversity of work, cultural, and life experience.

Responsibilities will include close collaboration with acousticians and theatre consultants within all of our studios - London, Bristol, Glasgow, New York and Chicago, in addition to Melbourne, while supporting marketing and business development efforts such as proposal writing and interviewing.

Meet Eric, our Melbourne Studio Principal

Eric, responsible for the day to day operations and business development of the Melbourne studio, has thirty years of experience as an architect specialising in the design and construction of theatres and buildings for the arts. With Charcoalblue he has been involved in the Courtyard Theatre for the RSC and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater development and since opening the Charcoalblue Melbourne Studio he has led our team on the proposals for the refurbishment of Sydney Theatre Company’s Wharf theatres, won the design study for the new Waterfront Theatre at the Esplanade in Singapore and is leading the design team for the proposed Waikato Regional Theatre in Hamilton, New Zealand.
