After earning a degree in Electrical Engineering and working as a Theatre Technician at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts in Kingston, Canada, Spencer began his career as a Theatre Manager at the Webber Academy Performing Arts Centre in Calgary, where he spent two years before moving to Sweden to complete a Master’s degree in Acoustics.

Spencer joins the Charcoalblue team following six years at Buro Happold, where he specialised in acoustics across a diverse range of projects. His experience spans performance venues, museums, libraries, and higher education facilities, with expertise in room acoustics, sound isolation, noise and vibration control, and environmental noise mitigation. His project work has taken him across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.

Spencer also brings a deep interest in computational design and automation. He has developed numerous tools to enhance the speed and precision of acoustic analysis and design, leveraging platforms such as Revit, Rhino/Grasshopper, and industry-specific acoustic software. With an eye on innovation, Spencer looks forward to contributing to Charcoalblue’s BIM development and expanding its digital capabilities.
