John is a theatre consultant with a background in the artistic and technical design of theatrical performances, venue management, and electrical design. He has a wide range of theatrical, digital, and engineering skills, and he worked as a theatre consultant at Arup before joining Charcoalblue.

At Arup, John collaborated with clients such as the BBC, the Royal College of Music, Leeds Beckett University, and the University of Liverpool in the UK. Internationally, he contributed to projects for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the Belgrade Philharmonic Concert Hall, Ghent Opera, Bourlaschouwburg in Antwerp, and others.

His expertise includes stage machinery design, lighting, audio, and video systems design, the development of specifications and tender packages, Revit modeling, and schematic drawing. He plays a key role in the strategic planning and design of performance venues, adopting a client-focused, holistic approach to arts and culture.

Previously, John was the Technical Manager at the ADC Theatre, where he oversaw a major refurbishment of backstage systems and the auditorium roof, including the complete redesign of front-of-house lighting positions. While studying Physics at university, he worked as a designer on several student and amateur productions, with multiple stints at both the Edinburgh Fringe and Buxton Fringe festivals.
