Working with Charcoalblue on our hugely ambitious capital development has been nothing less than a godsend. They immediately understood our artistic vision, working alongside us as the very best critical friends, and have been inventive and pragmatic in helping us realise our dreams. Suffice it to say we always look forward to our regular consultations with Andy and his team.

EVERYMAN & PLAYHOUSE THEATRES
LIVERPOOL

PROJECT BUDGET: Confidential
COMPLETION: 2011
PROJECT ARCHITECT: Haworth Tompkins

...reviving Liverpool’s cultural and theatrical heritage

Project summary

Following a detailed feasibility study, Charcoalblue has been appointed by the Liverpool and Everyman Theatres Trust to assist them in the redevelopment of the Everyman theatre, the refurbishment of the heritage listed Playhouse theatre, and the addition of new facilities to serve both theatres. This major development will create an inspiring legacy beyond Liverpool’s Capital of Culture 2008 with new employment and training opportunities as well as opening up the theatre experience to children, young people and communities across Merseyside.

The project is currently at the stage of final feasibility study, with large-scale fundraising now reaching the stage of formal bids. Major stakeholders have responded enthusiastically to the project and funding is progressing well. The capital development is being planned as a major legacy project for Liverpool’s Capital of Culture year, working towards building work commencing in 2009 and completing in 2011.
