CHRIS SPURGEON - FINANCIALDIRECTOR
Qualifications Experience Director of Finance for FilmFour Ltd, the stand-alone feature film investment, production and distribution arm of Channel 4 until 2003. Over this period the company invested around $150m in developing, packaging, acquiring and distributing in the UK and internationally, some 50 films with combined production budgets in excess of $500m. Between 1988 and 1999 was Finance Controller, then Finance Director of the Television Division of Chrysalis Group PLC, gaining extensive exposure to the independent television sector. The division comprised ten companies spanning all genres of UK television production, international sales and distribution and was generating annual turnover of around £60m. Qualified in 1980 with KPMG London office, subsequently spending two years in their Toronto office. Additional Experience 2 Entertain Ltd – £170m annual turnover joint venture between BBC Worldwide and Woolworths Group, specialising in video and music publishing and production. Warp Films Ltd – feature film production and distribution company specialising in cutting edge and innovative filmmaking. CfBT – one of the leading not-for-profit international education consultancies providing education and training services with a value in excess of £150m per annum. Darrall Macqueen Ltd – television production company specialising in children’s and entertainment programming. North West Vision – one of the UK Film Council’s Regional Screen Agencies, supporting film and television in the North West, providing production financing and venture capital investment. The Wordhouse Publishing Group – trade magazine publisher and events organiser specialising in the UK flower and horticultural market. Mac Million Ltd – television and film post-production company, one of the forerunners of High Definition post-production in Europe. Movision Films – one of the UK’s leading feature film producer/financiers, having helped financed 25 films over the last three years with total gross production budgets in excess of $280m. |
