JW3 (Jewish Community Centre) aims to create an inclusive gateway to the Jewish faith, where guests young and old, orthodox and secular, can meet.
JW3’s programme embraces arts, culture, debate, food & drink as well as nightlife, health and fitness. The new building is modern, forward thinking and fun, filled with events and activities. Through a programme of events and through the new community centre building, JW3 is transforming the lives of its community.
The scheme comprises a flexible three-storey community centre; a generous open space or piazza for outdoor events, carefully protected from the Finchley Road; and a residential block of 14 two- bedroom flats with views to the southwest. The ground floor of the centre contains a large multi-purpose hall and a café/bar/freelance hub, both opening onto the piazza, a screening room, and workshop space. The first floor is for community spaces, including a demonstration kitchen, an arts and crafts room, rehearsal and dance studios with changing rooms, meeting rooms, and learning centres.
Charcoalblue advised on the design of the multi-purpose hall, screening room and the performance-related technical provision throughout the building.
