Birmingham Conservatoire is one of nine music schools in the UK. It is currently housed in a 1960’s building on a site which will be redeveloped as part of the makeover of the city centre, resulting from the new high speed rail link. The Conservatoire will move to a new building adjacent to Millennium Point, where Birmingham City University already has a campus.
The new building will include a 500 seat concert hall with a large stage, able to accommodate a symphony orchestra, replacing the current Adrian Boult Hall. The other four venues are a recital hall with retractable seating, an experimental project space, and dedicated performance spaces for jazz and organ.
Charcoalblue are working with the architect and design team to develop auditorium designs, assisting with general planning of the building and designing stage engineering solutions.
