Project summary
The concept behind the New Performance Venue in Doncaster is to offer something for everyone. A wide and varied programme of events is planned, with numerous performing spaces and facilities available for anyone to use.
A 600-seat main auditorium will be large enough to attract high-profile acts and performers. A second flexible space catering for up to 200 people seated or 400 standing will have a wide range of uses thanks to its multi-functional design. Dance and drama studios, and two first-class rehearsal/ meeting/education spaces and a lively bar and café, will ensure the venue caters for all needs and tastes.
The venue will play a pivotal role in the Doncaster's new Civic and Cultural Quarter, raising the profile of the town on a regional and national level. The venue will be open day and night and is expected to attract around 270,000 visits a year, acting as a catalyst for the regeneration in other parts of the town centre.

Charcoalblue has assisted the architect in developing the design of the theatre spaces, and has provided detailed design of all of the theatre technical systems throughout the new complex.
Following the appointment of VINCI Construction, building works have started on site and Charcoalblue is overseeing the installation of the theatre technical systems.
"The new performance venue will be the cultural heartbeat of the development and will offer something for everyone to take part in or enjoy. Doncaster has much to look forward to."
Peter Davies, Mayor of Doncaster
